The Bentley Brook Inn is a lovely setting for a wedding because it has that comfortable, welcoming feel straight away. It does not feel too formal or overdone, which suited Josie and Jay’s day really well. Their wedding had a calm pace to it, with family and friends enjoying the venue, the surroundings and the chance to properly spend time together.

As a wedding photographer at Bentley Brook Inn, I wanted the photos to reflect how the day actually felt. There were the expected parts of the wedding, like the ceremony, confetti, group photos and speeches, but there were also all the smaller moments happening around them. Guests catching up outside, children playing, people laughing during the speeches and the couple getting those brief pockets of time together before being pulled back into the party.

The countryside around Ashbourne gives weddings at The Bentley Brook Inn a really nice backdrop. You do not need to overcomplicate the couple photos. A short walk, a bit of space and some natural light is often enough. Josie and Jay were relaxed in front of the camera, so the aim was to keep things simple and let them enjoy it rather than making it feel too posed.

What stood out about their day was how easy it felt. Everyone seemed happy to be there, the venue worked well for the flow of the wedding and the whole day had a warm, genuine atmosphere.

Josie and Jay’s Bentley Brook Inn wedding was a lovely countryside celebration, photographed in a natural and relaxed way from start to finish.
