Micro Weddings – Registry Office Edition
Some of the best weddings I have photographed this year have been what I call ‘micro weddings’.
They are literally as spelled, they’re small, intimate and quite often with the nearest and dearest to count as witnesses.
I photograph up to 20 of these a year, and I love them. I could be with the couple for an hour or up to three hours. Either way, their ceremony is special.
Typically, with Micro Weddings, these are at registry offices and there are some great examples of places I’ve been which I’ll share below.
Essentially, there’s no shame in getting married at a registry office. They’re cheaper, more efficient, and it makes you legal, slightly quicker!
You can also make the day yours. You can get married at 1:30 at a local registry office and by 3pm, you can be back home, at the local pub or dancing the afternoon away at a marquee in your garden. The day can be tailored to this!
With most micro weddings I photograph, we normally finish the photos at the registry office then head to a local pub, village hall or restaurant to finish the rest of the day and, because these are such short days, I’m a guest too, just with cameras hanging off a harness!
If you’re creating your own micro-wedding and looking for a photographer, then get in touch. Photography starts from just £200 for an hour up to £450 for 3 hours, photos are unlimited, and we’ll have a lot of fun!
