The George of Stamford
A Stamford institution, with coaching-inn character and that famous courtyard. I photographed Alison & Billy’s wedding here.

Home ground
I’m based in Stamford, so this is home ground. I know the town, the honey-coloured stone, the light down St Mary’s Street, and the venues from Burghley House on the edge of town to The George in its heart, plus the registry office for the smaller, quieter days.
When your wedding’s in Stamford, you’re not paying me to travel, and I’m not learning the place on the morning of your day.
My approach doesn’t change with the size of the day: natural and documentary, no stiff posing, no generic shots. Just your wedding, in full, whether that’s two hundred guests at a country house or the two of you at the registry office.
Where I shoot
From Burghley’s doorstep to the registry office in the middle of town.
A Stamford institution, with coaching-inn character and that famous courtyard. I photographed Alison & Billy’s wedding here.
One of England’s great Elizabethan houses, right on Stamford’s doorstep, with sweeping grounds and unbeatable backdrops.
Beside the Burghley estate: elegant, relaxed and a short walk from the deer park for portraits.
Intimate ceremonies in the heart of town. I cover registry office and micro weddings here regularly, from £350.
Just down the road in Cambridgeshire, and a country house I’ve photographed more than once.
I shoot across Stamford, Rutland and Lincolnshire. If you’re getting married locally, just ask.

From the heart

★★★★★James was an amazing photographer for our wedding. He was friendly with all our guests and managed to get some awesome pictures, both candid and staged. The end result is a lovely set of wedding photos. Thank you so much James.

★★★★★I cannot compliment James enough! Fantastic photographer, captured everything from our wedding that we wanted and more! All our guests couldn’t say enough nice things about him, chatting away and getting those all-important shots throughout the day!

★★★★★James deserves even more than 5 stars! Amazing from start to finish. He made us feel relaxed and able to enjoy the whole process. In the best way possible, we didn’t even realise he was there half the time!
